FRIDAY 2ND JUNE, 3.30PM & 5.30PM
SATURDAY 3RD JUNE NOON & 1.30PM
VENUE: BY THE BECK
Theatre of the Small return to the festival with some devilish tales. Learn how the devil tricks humankind and humankind tricks the devil, with folktales from Gascony, Denmark and a seriously compressed version of Dante’s Divine Comedy. How will the blacksmith escape his diabolical bargain? is that talking cauldron all it seems? … and if you wander from the track you may be led to hell and back.
Theatre of the Small is a collaboration between the theatre designer James Frost and the writer Sonia Overall. They have been creating outdoor puppet shows for festivals and heritage venues since 2001, drawing on historical and folkloric material and using acoustic music and entirely hand-crafted puppets and sets.
